Description
The red-faced egg turtle has a peculiar gaster, which can be closed freely, similar to the box turtle, but the box turtle can only close the front part of the gaster, while the red-faced egg turtle can be closed in front and back, so the gaster is obviously divided into three segments. There are also three distinct ridges on the dorsal armor, which gradually disappear with age. The Red-faced Egg Turtle has a distinctive reddish pattern on its face, which is the origin of its “red face”. However, the pattern on its skin does not show up when it is a hatchling, and the color appears only after it has developed to a certain level. The best turtles on the market are those with thick patterns and reddish color. The red-faced egg turtle has an outgoing and ferocious character, with a strong and powerful bite, and lives in the water all year round, seldom going ashore. It is very interactive.
